Poor performance

The previous owner of my lund 2075 pro v said that the boat has some problems, which is why it was probably the cheapest one in the country. One thing he failed to mention is that the engine is probably toast. The overall performance is crap, but he was saying the raising or lowering the engine and finding a balance can help, but no. In every possible configuration the boat is crap, so should I consider an engine rebuild or replacement?

If the engine is dead no matter the trim, it's probably rebuild or replace time, the rebuild is gonna be cheaper if the engine is in a good shape, but replacement is more reliable long-term, I'd go replacement if you can swing it

If it's only been giving you stress lately, consider replacing it. Rebuilds are fine if the core is fine too, but with some mystery issues from a sketchy seller, just go for that fresh start. Save yourself some trouble.

What exactly is the engine doing or not doing when you try to run it, and have you had a mechanic check compression or scan for any obvious issues before deciding on a rebuild or swap?

Since you got the hull cheap, getting a new or good used engine on it could still land you ahead financially, sometimes starting afresh is the better option
