Need advice on replacing transom in 2003 Lund 1800 Fisherman

I'm facing some issues with my 2003 Lund 1800 Fisherman. The transom wood is rotting, and the engine mounts are loose. Lund has only offered to cover 40% of a $3,000 repair, which seems low to me. The transom rot is common problem with Lund boats from the 90s to early 2000s because at that period of time they were using untreated plywood. If you are into DIY projects i would suggest making it your own by replacing it with marine grade plywood sealed with epoxy resin. If you do it properly it will be very durable and cost effective.

Yeah, that's sadly a common issue with older boats! I second @RealityCheck1's suggestion about replacing the full transom with marine-grade plywood. Or consider a composite like Coosa. Penetrating epoxies like Git-Rot are less permanent for significant rot. Get quotes from independent marine repair shops. You're likely to find better prices!

I agree it’s to much work to do it yourself. It’s cheaper than buying a new or used one and you will have a better than original one.
