Gearing up for a bow mount on my Lund

I've been sketching out some upgrades for my Lund 1875 Pro-V, and part of the plan is to eventually put in a good bow mount trolling motor up front, planning ahead so I still have time to make a well informed decision, I'd love to hear what setups anyone here is running. Spot lock is definitely on my wishlist, and I'm leaning toward something that is nice with both shallow weed lines and deeper lake trolling.

This is one of those upgrades I want to do right the first time, did something on the deck sometime ago, story for another, lol

I'm running an Ulterra with spot lock on my Lund and honestly, it changed everything for me on windy days. It really handles shallow weeds better than I expected. But you just gotta keep the prop clean now and then.

Personally, I would go with an Ultrex, probably a 50+ shaft length. I have used Minn Kota since the early 70's and wouldn't use anything else. Went to the Utrex 52 inch shaft two years ago on my 1675 Tiller and it's a whole new world...Try it, you will love it....

I did a bunch of upgrades to my old Tyee over the last 18 months or so and you are smart to move slowly on this.
What I discovered on my particular Tyee is that the bow plate is smallish for modern marine equipment. I put a Garmin Kraken on my boat and it started a cascade of unforseen issues. Because of the particular geometry of my boat and how the trolling motor needs to rest before deployment, I had to buy a "SeaSwivel" to help with this issue. That SeaSwivel is a bit of a beast to get properly attached to the bow plate. So now I had a larger trolling motor on a large SeaSwivel. So over 85% of my bow space was used up for the trolling motor. Chartplotters, anchor light, all kinda cramped now. Does it work and look somewhat intentional? Sure. Could it have been better? Definitely. One suggestion is to make cardboard boxes to represent what all will go on the bow and work out a configuration that works for the way you fish. Because of the cramped space on the bow plate, I moved my 2 bow graph displays onto the actual boat deck in the front corner. I am using a dual graph extendable mount that raises the graphs up 20". That turned out to be a happy coincidence because now I don't have to bend over every time I want to interact with the graphs.
